{{ w.forWho }}Three months of salsa with William Harrison. Start as a lead or a follow, and learn both along the way. Come on your own. Beginners welcome.
Most of us learned salsa as a list of moves. Then the song changes, and we freeze.
We work on what sits underneath the moves: your weight, your timing, how you connect with a partner. Once that's in your body, you stop counting and start listening. That's where freestyle comes from, and it's why The Flying Studio exists.
Three Sunday workshops before the season. Each one focuses on one thing you can take straight to the dance floor.
Come to one or all three. It’s also the easiest way to meet William and see if the season is for you.
No two Sundays look the same. William reads the room and goes where the group wants to go.
Everyone has that one friend who keeps saying they’d love to learn salsa. This is the push. Pick a gift, write them a note, and the card is ready to print or send the moment you pay.
Twelve Wednesday nights, 7 to 9 pm, starting January 6. We all begin together and finish together, so nobody is ever the new person halfway through.

Pick the side you’d like to start on. That’s your focus, and it stays yours. Along the way you’ll spend a little time on the other side too, because that’s how you get to know the whole dance.
In hip hop, a cypher is a circle. The music plays and dancers take turns in the middle. As far as we know, nobody has ever trained for a salsa cypher. That’s what we’re doing.
We build it into the season a little at a time, with short circles in class. You learn the etiquette: how to step in, how long to stay, how to hand over, how to lift the person in the middle. It’s also the best cure we know for nerves about dancing in front of people.
The practice circles stay in the room. On our final night in March, we form the circle one more time and film it for our YouTube channel.
“I’m not here to teach you my moves. I want you to feel at home in your own body, so the dancing comes from you.”
